Simultaneous Use of One Monopolar Generator and One Bipolar Generator Most generators can have only one output selected at a time and cannot therefore be used for monopolar and bipolar surgery simultaneously. However, occasions may arise where a separate bipolar generator may be used. Providing the machines are totally isolated, there are no special safety precautions which require observation.
