Blended cut

Blended Cut Blending is a cutting current with increased haemostasis so that the walls of the incision are well desiccated and dry. This is a requirement for certain procedures where there would otherwise be bleeding if the pure cutting current was used.

The "blended" wave-form is not usually variable, i.e. the amount of haemostasis with cutting is not adjustable. This is because variable blend controls have been found to confuse and offer little, if any, advantage over a single control. It is a common misunderstanding that setting the cut control to one output figure and coagulation to another will give a mix of wave-form.
